Today, we are going to take a closer look at the Bridgestone tires on your Fisker Ocean. By now, you’re probably well aware that Fisker has chosen to work with Bridgestone. We’ve seen race car driver Abbie Eaton tear up the Bridgestone proving ground in Italy. We know Bridgestone will be the exclusive tire provider for Fisker. However, we don’t actually hear that much about the details of the actual tires themselves.

Your Fisker Ocean will have custom-engineered tires made exclusively by Bridgestone. Just last week we got a glimpse of the Bridgestone COO and Henrik Fisker talking about driving dynamics. Furthermore, both companies share a commitment around sustainability.

Fisker will offer two types of tires on the Fisker Ocean in sizes 255/50 R20 and 255/45 R22, which will fit either the 20″ F7 AeroStealth or 22″ F3 SlipStream and F5 AirGlider wheels. Your Fisker Ocean will come with either Potenza Sport tires or Alenza Sport tires on either 20″ or 22″ wheels.

The Potenza Sport tire is for summer performance whereas the Alenza Sport tire is for all season driving. The Potenza Sport and Alenza Sport tires are made with Bridgestone’s “ENLITEN” technology. This technology minimizes rolling resistance by up to 30%. Also, it reduces weight of each tire by up to 20%. The type of tires on your Fisker Ocean electric SUV will depend on your geography and trim.

Firstly, Fisker Ocean electric vehicles sold in Europe, and select trims in North America, will be fitted with Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires. Potenza Sport tires are designed for “optimal driving” with a focus on both ride comfort and handling stability. Fisker says, “These tires are engineered for low rolling resistance, which conserves the Fisker Ocean’s battery energy by ensuring that less power is required to move the vehicle’s tires.”

Secondly, select Fisker Ocean trims sold in North America will come with Bridgestone Alenza Sport tires. For example, Henrik recently confirmed the Fisker Ocean One will come with Alenza Sport tires standard on 22″ wheels for customers in the United States. According to Fisker, “The Alenza Sport tire is engineered for enhanced dry braking, wet handling, and improved rolling resistance.” This will help you you take full advantage of your Fisker Ocean One’s high-performance capabilities.

Your Fisker Ocean will not come with a spare tire. It doesn’t matter which Fisker Ocean trim you select. You will not be receiving a spare tire. Fisker appears to have something special planned for where a spare tire would be located.

Previously, we thought the Fisker Ocean would come with run flat tires. However, that is not the case either. The Fisker Ocean will actually come with a tire repair kit standard on all trims. Fisker hasn’t said how an owner would use the tire repair kit. It’s not clear to us if this is a DIY kit or should be used by a service technician. It’s more likely you’ll need to press a button in the Fisker Flexee app to get help with a flat tire.

However, any time we have a flat tire we take it to our local tire store and they plug it for free. It’s usually quick and easy. The only problem is if you end up with a blown out tire you’ll need to request a tow. Good news, Fisker’s vehicle warranty includes roadside assistance.

Earlier this month, when we pre-ordered the Fisker Ocean One, we noticed Fisker will offer two additional Bridgestone tires as accessories. These tires are engineered specifically for the winter. Fisker is selling these tires already fitted to the 20″ F7 AeroStealth wheels, which makes for a hefty price. The Nordic winter tire is studless and meant for deeper snowy roads typical in Scandinavian countries. Fisker says the European winter tire is meant for snowy roads.

The Fisker Ocean will come with bespoke tires made by Bridgestone. At this time, these are the only tires offered by Fisker. To the right is the first photo of the Alenza Sport tire we’ve seen on the Fisker Ocean.

The 20″ wheels with Bridgestone Sport tires will offer a smooth ride. For example, when you hit a pothole these slightly fatter tires will be more forgiving. This is compared to the 22″ wheels with low-profile Bridgestone Sport tires. Expect to feel more bumps in the road.

Tires for 22″ wheels usually cost more to replace than tires for 20″ wheels. Lastly, 20″ wheels will provide you more range than the larger 22″ wheels. However, the 22″ wheels all look better in our opinion.
